An Autonomous Resource is the durable business entity that occupies a Role and carries responsibility over time. Its agent, model, provider or runtime can change without erasing the Resource identity, history or accountability.
3. Roles and responsibilities come before prompts
Autonomy starts with why a Role exists, which business outcomes it owns and which Capabilities it must perform. This produces reusable departmental and enterprise workers instead of a proliferation of one-off scenario agents.
4. Qualification and Authority are separate
Qualification answers whether a Resource can perform specified work. Authority answers whether it may perform that work in the current organization, scope, environment and context. Keeping them separate is fundamental to safe autonomous execution.
5. Bring any agent—or provision from the Role
Customers can register and govern agents built with their preferred providers and frameworks, preserving existing investments. They can also begin with a Role and its Business Capabilities and provision a guardrailed worker implementation through Autonomy.
6. Business Capabilities define the work
Roles and Resources are responsible for stable Business Capabilities such as retrieving a purchase order, approving a requisition or onboarding an employee. The business meaning does not change when the agent, API or application changes.
7. Applications remain replaceable systems of record
Application Operations and Routes implement Business Capabilities beneath the workforce model. SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, ServiceNow and future applications can evolve without redefining the Role or Resource responsible for the outcome.
8. Governance participates in execution
Identity, Qualification, Authority, policy, approvals, environment resolution, verification and evidence are evaluated as work executes. Governance is not postponed until an after-the-fact audit.
9. Lifecycle and performance are first-class
Autonomy manages onboarding, activation, change, suspension, requalification, retirement and replacement. Performance is measured through verified outcomes, reliability, cost, controls and escalation—not merely prompts or task counts.
10. Workforce, business and application definitions can evolve independently
Versioned Business Packages and Application Packages move validated definitions between environments while actual Resources, Assignments, grants, connections and performance evidence remain inside the operating environment. This protects both portability and governance.
